Go after games as hard as you like. Don't go after people for who they are.

Absolutely fine

  • Swearing. This is a gaming site, not a vicarage.
  • Brutal reviews. If a game's a broken mess, say it's a broken mess.
  • Heated arguments about games, scores, studios, and each other's terrible opinions.
  • Banter between members who are clearly both in on it.

Not fine (this gets you removed)

  • Attacking someone over their race, religion, gender, sexuality, disability, or nationality. Disagreeing with a person is fine; going after who they are is not.
  • Threats, or harassment campaigns against a member. Persistent targeting isn't "banter".
  • Sexual content involving minors. Instant ban, no strikes, no appeal.
  • Encouraging self-harm.
  • Shock content, like gratuitous real-world gore.
  • Spam, scams, phishing links, or flooding the site with self-promotion.
  • Impersonating other members or staff.

GIFs count as content too. The same rules apply to what you attach.

How enforcement works

  • Posts are checked automatically when you submit. Something that crosses the line simply doesn't get published, and you'll see a message telling you so.
  • Serious violations count as strikes on your account: at 3 strikes you're silenced (you can read but not post), at 6 you're banned.
  • Every review, comment, and post has a Report button. Reports go straight to a human. Use them, they work.
  • Admins can remove content, silence, or ban directly for anything egregious.

Think we got it wrong?

Automated moderation isn't perfect, and borderline calls happen. If your post was blocked or your account actioned and you think it's a mistake, email harry.lidstone@critgamingreviews.com and a human will look at it.
