Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
The Art of the Blade
9.2/ 10
Sekiro strips away the RPG layers of Dark Souls and distils the experience down to pure swordplay. The deflection system is the most satisfying combat mechanic FromSoftware has ever designed — when you are in the zone, trading blows with a boss becomes almost rhythmic. The prosthetic tools add tactical depth without overwhelming the core loop. The lack of build variety compared to Souls games will disappoint some, but the trade-off is a tighter, more focused experience. Isshin, the Sword Saint remains one of gaming's greatest final bosses.
